The Benmore Valley Ranch is a unique geological feature, a pristine 1200 acre mountain valley watershed located in the hills above Hopland, for the first time, open to the public for recreational use. The valley is a watershed, with the eastern ridge overlooking Clear Lake and the western ridge overlooking the Russian River Valley. The Benmore Valley was named for Benjamin Moore, a local legend who stole cattle from prosperous Mendocino ranchers during the 1800s and drove them to the Mexican border.
